SIP Public Cultural Center and Renmin University of China (RUC) Suzhou Campus joined hands to organize the cultural event at SIP Library on Apr 21 when a scholar from the university shared unique insights on the blockbuster TV series “Blossoms Shanghai”.
Directed by Oscar nominee Wong Kar-wai, the 30-episode rags-to-riches drama series is adapted from a 2012 novel of the same name written by Shanghai writer Jin Yucheng.
During the event, Cheng Guangwei, a professor from the RUC School of Liberal Arts, gave the guests a comparison between the novel and the TV adaptation, and shared with them his opinions on the reasons behind the popularity of the show and the inspirations it could give to today’s young people.
Taking the chance, the RUC Suzhou Campus presented a number of books written by the school’s scholars to SIP Library.
