A team of world-famous track and field athletes who recently arrived in SIP to compete in the 2024 Yangtze River Delta Athletics Diamond Gala scheduled in Suzhou Olympic Sports Centre on Apr 27 enjoyed a wonderful tour around SIP on Apr 24.
High jump star Hamish Kerr, world shot put champion Chase Jackson, Olympic discus champion Valerie Allman and Chinese pole vault athletes Huang Bokai and Zhong Tao showed up at Suzhou High School·SIP where they toured around the campus and taught students sports skills.
Other athletes including world pole vault champion Sam Kendricks, women’s 60m champion Mujinga Kambundji and women’s discus champion Laulauga Tausaga and Wang Fang, who won the championship in women’s discus in China’s National Athletics Championships, visited Suzhou High School Affiliated to Xi’an Jiaotong University, where they shared their experiences and opinions on talents and competition with the students.
The athletes also enjoyed a boat tour on Jinji Lake, and watched the performance of “The Peony Pavilion”, a classic episode of Kunqu opera, one of the oldest forms of Chinese opera.
